A Samian Ware (terra sigillata) red gloss pottery bowl with moulded decoration. The decoration consists of foliage and two pairs of figure scenes, one scene may depict a play (denoted by the presence of what appears to be two drama masks) above an indistinct figure composition between two pillars.

Repaired from numerous fragments with surface wear; around 20% of the bowl has been restored (reconstructed) using crude dark red painted plaster
Ex. private collection, Kent, UK; formerly in a French collection acquired before 1970. There is a large almost illegible late 18th or early 19th Century collection label attached to the rim.
