A painted and incised pottery tear-shaped aryballos decorated with a figure of a sphinx and a goose.
Greek, Corinth, early 6th Century BC
A small chip on the rim and the painted decoration lost on one side (affecting the sphinx’s head), the incised decoration remains visible however. The surface has been coated in places with a modern varnish which has developed small white patches visible in the photographs
